Khan Academy Can Help Mom and Dad As Well As Kids (for Free!)

November 7, 2017 by Bethanie Ryan

The Khan Academy is a free online lecture series that explains a variety of subjects through YouTube videos of drawings on an electronic blackboard as the instructor narrates the lesson. The video series includes extensive lessons on mathematics and science, as well as history, economics, and preparation for standardized tests and entering the workforce. These videos cover subjects that are helpful for you or your little ones to get a grasp on, because jobs in the STEM fields are becoming increasingly desirable and competitive.

The lessons are useful both if you’re considering furthering your own education, as well as if your daughter or son needs a little extra help in a school subject or two at some point in his or her academic career. Even better, learn together!

As any parent will tell you, hiring a tutor can be a hassle—and is often not so easy on the wallet. Thankfully, the Khan Academy that is easily accessible to anyone with internet access, and best of all: It’s free.

It is worth noting that the Khan Academy is not a substitute for traditional classroom learning. Rather, it is meant to be an educational supplement to help you or your child to master whichever subject(s) you choose. Even if you or your child is a straight-A student, the Khan Academy is worth checking out. Again, it’s free, so the most you have to lose is a few minutes of your time—and the most you have to gain is a wealth of knowledge.

Women Deserve Better
When you are struggling, sometimes it helps to see the issue from your child's point of view.A parenting mantra to tuck in your pocket, friends:“My child isn’t giving me a hard time. My child is having a hard time.”*Keep in mind that it’s their crisis, not yours. Be their calm place, their safe space, their home base. When little people are overwhelmed with big emotions, it’s our job to share our calm, not join their chaos. Remember, you’re the only adult in the relationship. They’re learning how to be a grown up by watching you act like a grown up.-L.R.Knost__________________________________📚Peaceful Parenting Resources: t.co/T8goym3P6Z 📚__________________________________Please respect the work of authors, photographers, and artists.
